Steve started his martials arts career at the age of 17 when he studied the Taoist art of Feng Sau ( Hand of Wind ) Kung Fu. This is one of a variety of Taoist arts taught by the late Chee Soo. After moving to Brighton Steve became disillusioned as at that time very few martials clubs were teaching so called 'soft' styles and the 'hard' styles available did not appeal. After several years Steve resumed training with various local clubs first in a Choy Li Fut derivative, a short period of Pak Mai and finally discovered Wing Chun, studying under Sifu Kevin Liu in Brighton.

After a severe road traffic accident the martial arts were forced to take a back seat, doctors advising only mild physical exercise. During this time Steve continued to study the Eastern arts in particular Tai Chi and Chi Kung.

Almost two years ago Steve's son pursuaded him to attend Shaolin Kung Fu classes and the interest was rekindled. After joining Hove WT under Peter and John Woolgar, Steve has continued to study WIng Chun and is currently studying for his Instructor exam.
